Locals worried that Skegness Magistrates Court had been earmarked for closure will be reassured to know that the news doesn't mean the end to local justice.

Today the under-secretary of state to the justice minister, Shailesh Vara, responded to queries about the future of Skegness court in parliament.

In response to a question by Matt Warman (MP for Boston and Skegness) he gave his "assurance" that the court wouldn't be relocated to anywhere outside of the town.

In his question Matt Warman remarked that the court was one of the "most underused in the country" and "one of the least able to cope with vulnerable prisoners".

Warman requested for the use of other facilities as a court in the area but wasn't "sentimental" about the current building.
